Our Convenor Puja Kapai recently delivered closing remarks at ‘CHUP: A panel discussion on “The silenced South Asian Woman’s stories of Hong Kong”‘, organised by the Zubin Foundation. The Panel was moderated by Shalini Mahtani, co-founder and Chair of the Zubin Foundation and included Dr. Philip Beh, K. Bhuvaneshwari Bhagat, Archana Kotecha, Dr. Ravina Lalvani, and Gladys Li SC.
As legal advisor to Call Mira, Hong Kong’s first helpline dedicated to supporting marginalised ethnic minority women and girls in Hindi, Urdu, and Nepali set up by the Zubin Foundation, Puja shared her insights on the patterns that can be discerned from the calls received and her views on what different sectors can do to help ethnic minority women and girls reach out and to strengthen their capacities for resilience in the face of violence.

By speaking openly about these issues, Puja Kapai encourages more people to engage in meaningful dialogue.
This talk highlights the resilience and courage of South Asian women whose stories deserve attention.
Puja Kapai’s contribution helps shed light on nuanced challenges faced by women in the community.
Events like this remind us how important it is to listen to diverse voices and perspectives.
It’s powerful to see South Asian women’s lived experiences being shared with honesty and depth.
